日頃からエムピウをご愛用のお客様、そして新たにご関心をお持ちいただいた皆様。誠にありがとうございます。
昨今の様々なご紹介を通じまして《millefoglie》ご購入希望を非常に多く頂戴したため品薄となっておりますこと大変申し訳ございません。
エムピウは2001年に誕生し、これまで一貫して「天然素材の革を使って」「日本で職人様に製作していただいた」商品を販売しているブランドです。村上が描いた「作り手＋誰か」によって完成していく「ものたち」は、この方法でなければ実現しないと考えるからです。
つまり革の供給がなければスタート地点にも立てず、技術のある方々がいらっしゃらなければ製作できません。在庫不足となりましても増産できる数の限界がございますため、解消には時間がかかってしまいます。
また直営店が蔵前だけであるように、生産量を踏まえたスタッフ数で運営しています。正直に申しますと現在の状況下では人手が足りておりません。しかし「ひとたち」も一緒に「育って」いく会社であるため、地に足をつけ自然体で無理がない規模の中で続けてまいりました。
以上の経緯から変化への対応も一歩一歩となってしまうかもしれません。どうか今しばらくの間、見守っていただけますと幸いです。

ポケットの小銭が音を立ててふと思った。

しかも中身を取り出しやすく、使えば使うほど愛着がわく。
そんないれものがあったら……。
こうして2001年、村上雄一郎の革製品ブランド m+［エムピウ］が誕生しました。
村上のmにプラスをつけたのは「作り手+誰か」によって、ものが完成するから。年月を重ねて、m+のアイテムは広がりましたが、ブランド名にこめた思いは変わりません。
自然が育む天然素材、信頼できる職人、そして使い手の一人一人が関わりながら、m+の革製品は生まれてきます。
About m+
As I walked along, the coins in my pocket jangled noisily with every step. I wondered if there was a way to carry them more comfortably. Perhaps wrap them in a soft piece of leather. In a case that is easy to retrieve coins from. Something that you become more and more attached to, with every use. If only something like this existed…
It was based on this sentiment that Yuichiro Murakami first created the m+ brand in 2001. The m represents Murakami, and the plus was added to convey the idea that an object is completed through the partnership of “its maker + somebody else.” Over the years, m+ items have evolved and expanded, but the concept behind the brand name remains unchanged.
m+ leather products are created through the following three factors: naturally-cultivated leather, trusted craftsmen, and our relationships with each and every customer.

日常のシンプルな動作によりそう機能性。
そこに使う人の手が重ねられたとき、m+はゆっくりと育ちはじめます。

たとえ同じ製品でも育ち方は千差万別。
使い手の日常が革を育て、ものもまた、使い手が重ねる年月を記憶しながら豊かな表情を刻んでいきます。

Grows and Ages
Breathing, perspiring, touching. These are actions and sensations which we experience every day. They remind us that we are alive.The same goes for the leather products created by m+ (pronounced m piu). They are alive, too. When their user gets sweaty palms, they absorb the moisture from his skin. As their user breathes in and out, they breathe alongside him.

This is the idea which gives birth to m+ bags and leather products.

From the moment an m+ item is enveloped in its owner’s hand, it begins its journey towards becoming a piece of aged leather, perfectly worn in all the right places. Being softly handled every day makes the leather supple, and creates a wonderfully glossy sheen.
Even items which start out identical can grow to become as different as night and day. On their surfaces, the items record the details of their life with their owner, and gradually become decorated with character, displaying a rich range of emotions.
As their owner grows and ages, so too do they. This, indeed, is how m+ sees the relationship between objects and human beings.
